Magnolia

Does anyone have any idea why my magnolia looks like this? It started drooping and going brown some weeks ago, but not to this extent! Now the whole plant looks like this. I thought it was lack of water during the hot period we had where there wasn't any rain for a month, so I watered it. Everything around it is fine. I have scraped back a little of the bark and it's still green. Will it recover from this, and any tips on what to do with it now? Do I just allow the leaves to drop naturally?

Thanks

Is it a new plant? Is it in the soil or in a pot?

Cut it back to green stems.  Or leave it if you are not a tidy person.

If it's dead,it's dead.  If not it's possibly alive.
