Glyphosate and bamboo

Can I spray glyphosate directly into a cut out bamboo as they shoot please? I have read I should leave it until it gets to 3ft tall with a few leaves and then spray but reluctant to do this as we have animals, plus how will it ever reach a creeping root? Surely spraying a creeping root is more affective for it underground? TIA.

I think Glyphosate works on the green parts.

Glyphosate enters the plant system via the green parts, and then moves by  translocation to the rest of the plant. That said professionals licenced to deal with Japanese knotweed inject it directly into the stems so I  see no reason why you couldn't try it on cut bamboo stems .  Just take care in application.

My understanding is that glyphosate must be used " as directed " and, as such, injection is breaking the law, unless, as you say, "licenced" to do so.

I should have been clear, I would try brushing it on over the cut stems. @Hostafan1 is correct, you need to be trained and licensed to inject.
