What Wisteria Do I Have?

Hello all, I'm intrigued by what Wisteria I have as the RHS Grow App plant identifier reckons it is an American wisteria (not what I'm after). I bought it from facebook marketplace for cheap around a year ago and now I'm wondering whether I have been scammed. Am I right in saying it's not a wisteria Formosa 'caroline' as originally promised?

For reference, the regular wisteria (wisteria sinesis) leaves have a sort of crinkle, mine don't have that unfortunately.

I just looked and it looks similar to my American wisteria but it also looks alot like the other species, if anything its leaves are darker than on ous bit that could be the picture. If it's the American species it should flower at an early age. I thing they sell them at flowering size (as they do with the other species because they graft them) and ours has just flowered even though it was cut to a stump last year as we had to move it for building work.

I can see it is twining clockwise in your photo, meaning it is either Japanese, American, or x formosa which is a cross between Japanese and Chinese species. So it could yet be 'Caroline', but you probably won't know for sure until it flowers.

If I was you and want a specific wisteria I'd buy one from a reputable vender , the time waiting isn't worth it in my opinion . Has it got a graft union ?

I bought a Wisteria Formosa 'Harlequin' at my local garden centre to replace it and it looks drastically different leaf-wise so I'm almost certain the one I had before was not what was promised. I had to pay more than I did for the original plant but it is worth it as I can definitely confirm it is the type of Wisteria that I am after. Thank you all for the help 👍🏻
