Should I deadhead my salvia and lavender? And is my aubretia a gonner?

    @fizzyliz The Aubretia needs shearing to the ground them plenty of water. It looks like you still have a few Lavender flowers perhaps wait a little then deadhead removing stalks.
    I like the salvia just as it is with it's seed heads. Plants with lovely seed heads add another dimension to a border.
    I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.

    I deadhead Salvia Nemorosa, if that's what yours are. Then they have a second flowering lower down the stems. I would wait a bit for the lavender.

    I would shear the aubretia as @GardenerSuze says. It will make new growth to flower next year and will stop it getting straggly.

    Yes there are two ways to deal with Salvis Nemorosa. I have tried both. Cut back the second flush were disappointing but growing conditions do vary. I now leave then for the lovely shaped seed heads. A matter of preference.
