They don't touch the nasturtiums, and I often have those, and they sometimes manage to self seed too, but they're too late to be of any use anyway. Damage is already done with things like dahlias. I don't really grow Calendulas but I've done some marigolds this year. They haven't been touched - by aphids either. Many things don't survive by self seeding so I'd be constantly seeding new plants to try. It's just Sod's Law I'm afraid even touching beer is out of the question for me, for reasons I won't go into.
We just have a lot of slugs, and because very few folk round here garden to any extent, my plot is very attractive to them. I had a look at the dahlia a while go and it looks as if it's recovered very slightly. It's just how it is with plants eh? I can't get too excited about it all any more!
