Plant pot liner

Hi
I am looking at getting a slightly bigger indoor ceramic indoor plant pot for my Cactus.
https://hortology.co.uk/collections/all/products/lindy-plant-pot-ochre?variant=32259472457830
Do i need a plant pot liner as i have never used one before in my pots?
If so can i use something like a plastic bag?
I will be putting a few pebbles in the base for drainage this time also.
Thank you

Hello @pash2. It is not necessary to have a plant pot liner.

I assume your cactus will be planted in a normal pot with a drainage hole and that the "Lindy plant pot" will just be a decorative cover. As this pot is not guaranteed to be watertight, then you will need something to stop any moisture leaking out and ruining your furniture. A small plant saucer underneath the regular pot containing the cactus would work okay.

What kind of cactus is it? I prefer to use a plastic pot inside a pot like that, especially if it doesn't have drainage holes. You can take the plastic pot out to water the plant, let it dry out and then replace it in the cache pot. If it's a type of cactus that's very water sensitive then you can add more holes to a plastic pot to help it drain.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

It is a Silver torch and a Metre tall
It is in a ceramic pot now and has been for years without any liner or other pot inside the ceramic pot.
None of the pots have drainage holes but i will be putting some stones in the bottom of the pots.
Tempting fate but up to now i have never had any issues with the Cactus's.

    Thanks

In that case you can buy a diamond drill bit quite cheaply to add a drainage hole to the pot. I've drilled a few over the years and it just helps when you need to flush the soil through. The pebbles won't do much to help drainage or prevent root rot in my experience but I always put a large crock on the base just to help when you need to put the plant back out of the pot when you repot next time.
