Laurel leaves crinkling up after new growth

Hi,  I am new to gardening and understood i couldn't go wrong in planting a laurel hedge (cherry).  I bought bare root Laurel and when it arrived planted straight away with some additives to support new root growth. They were planted in May.  I cut them right back and they have really grown well with lovely new leaves and branches.  But..... this week they have all started to crinkle and leaves are brown round the whole edge.  They are covered in ants too? not that may make a difference? not sure? My existing Laurels are all fine - still covered in ants but are a lovely healthy bright green leaf.  Any ideas?  I have extra so have potted them up in large pots and they have also done the same?  perhaps sold a batch of bad Laurels??

@gillmaidens They are new and very stressed. Watering deeply every few days encourages root downwards. Ants can disrupt plants especially newly planted but I doubt that is the problem. No you haven't got a batch of bad Laurels they are struggling with high air temperatures. Welcome.

Reputable suppliers wouldn't send out bare root plants in May. Too late.
Soak them thoroughly, including the ones in pots, and keep them moist until this winter.

I'd be inclined to inform the supplier too. That's poor behaviour by them  :/
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • @gillmaidens mine are exactly the same!!! Glad to hear watering should sort them! Was worried I’d lose the lot!
