Clematis

Got a beautiful clematis, don't know which type, and it's growing prolifically, which is lovely, but not sure what to do to contain it better. It gets a hard prune every spring.must be about 12ft tall if it was tied in

Have you got a photo @l33harkIOYzIXIe?
That will help with correct advice re ongoing care, but if you hard prune every spring and it has a lot of growth now, it's likely to be a Group 3. They do need tied in if they don't have shrubs/trees etc to climb through, so a good support is needed    :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

That looks like the herbaceous 'Alionushka'..  grows very tall and upright... the top is liable to collapse downwards when it rains or if not supported sufficiently..

Best grown inside a very tall obelisk, or through a large shrub..  far too tall to easily accommodate, unfortunately..
Tied to a pergola post is another way to use it.. you've done well with it against the wall..

It's a semi herbaceous type, so it won't climb in the usual way most clems do.
A good support is the way to go - an obelisk, as suggested, would be the best choice, as you don't have a suitable shrub nearby  :)
