@TheGreenMan - phacelia is a plant usually sown as a green manure.  Farmers here do it a lot as a rotation in their arable fields and we get a lovely sea of blue.   i have some seed to scatter in a "meadow" area in our veg plot to attract pollinators.

You could try sowing some in trays and then planting out the seedlings when they're big enough.  It's supposed toself-seed liberally so you'd need to be sure you want it.

Speaking as someone from a farming family I’d be wary about introducing Phacelia anywhere I didn’t want it to spread over quite a large area ….

I did wonder. At Gibside they had put it into a bed all on its own.

I grow Phacelia, and yes it self seeds, but I find it easy to remove what I don't want, and I love the flowers, as do the Bees.

Sorry @TheGreenMan, I was away the rest of the day so didn't see your reply.
I think I got that last year, but I can't remember where from. It would have been a small plant though, and I'll have grown it on a little before planting. If you can get it now, it's certainly worth doing.
I'll be collecting seed though, so it'll be interesting to see how that does, and if it comes true, I can always send you some.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
