Advice needed on buying climbing roses please

I have a wooden fence of 23 feet long by 6 foot high and would like to plant 3 climbing roses on it. I am confused regarding the height of the roses i should be looking at as some grow 10 feet or more high.
Do i need to be looking at climbing roses that grow to around 6 foot high or can i also look at others of 10 foot and keep them well pruned ? It is confusing to me as from what i can understand i will be traing the main stems horizontally so is height a problem ?
Also if a plant states it grows to 10 foot high would that also be the spacing needed to the next climbing rose ?

A 10ft rose should be fine for a 6ft fence if you train it sideways.

When you space them don't forget that it won't be a whole 10ft as it will grow up a bit before being trained sideways and it doesn't matter if they overlap a bit.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

    That's useful to know.

I think the extra height is actually beneficial if the plan is to cover a large proportion of the fence. If you plant shorter roses then you have less material to train sideways but they will be easier to maintain.

Is it your fence or a neighbours! I have a thing about fences after falling out with neighbours on one side in my last two houses who claimed I could not do this as the fence was theirs. Checked the deeds and the fences were ours and had great delight in telling them this. Same problem again in my present house.

Yes it is my fence so there is not a problem there.
