Minnesota midget – do melons need supporting?

As an experiment I tried sowing some Minnesota midget seeds… wasn’t actually expecting them to bear fruit but we have a few actual melons growing! Unfortunately I don’t actually have the seed packet anymore (gave the rest away) and didn’t take a pic of the instructions. Can anyone tell me if the melons need supporting on the plant with netting or similar? I know they only grow to cricket ball size but they’re not far off that and they look quite weighty – I’m a bit worried the plant won’t be able to hold their weight without support, but also don’t want to start messing around with netting if not necessary. The plant is just growing in a good sized pot with a cane in it.

I used old tights to support my melons last year. They get pretty heavy

It's like Carry on Gardening in here.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Oh thank you @wild edges!!! I've been resisting the temptation all day.
My melons have never been unsupported and and I'm glad as I'd forever be tripping over them now.
