Problematic Bamboo

Any suggestions as to how to kill bamboo shoots that invade my garden from my neighbor's yard? (I'm not able to dig a trench to create a barrier.)

All you can do, if unable to create a barrier, is to cut and remove anything appearing in your garden.

And be vigilant. They can run under slabs as well as lawn/flower beds and appear a long way away from the parent plant. As @KT53 says you can only just keep cutting the growths as you find them.

    Serious problems require serious action.

!.  Contact herbicide.  You will need to keep repeating.

    2.  Cut and burn.   You will need to keep repeating.

    3. Relocation herbicide.  Will travel backwards and kill the neighbour's host plant.

Herbicides are taken off the approved list frequently, so enquire at your supplier.  And check that the label confirms their information.
