What is this please?

Hi
I think this is a type of mint but my husband thinks it's oregano. The leaves are too big for oregano, and it spreads like a mint but isn't exactly minty. It is certainly herby
Thoughts welcome, thanks - and yet again, please excuse the sideways pics!

  • Oh, and if anyone can tell me what the paler-leaved long shoots next to it are I'd be grateful.
    Here's a better pic - I hope!

@Stephanie newish gardener Does it have a menthol smell or choclolate that is the best clue.
Second is creeping Jenny can be a problem in a clay soil.

  • Now that it's a bit bigger it smells vaguely minty, and I did wonder whether it was a chocolate mint because of the darker stems (not that that's necessarily an association)
I have a bit of a cold at the minute so all smells are a bit vague.....

  • I have a correction to make - my husband has just informed me that he didn't say oregano,  he said bergamot (and he said to amend it on here so he doesn't look a complete buffoon )
I have just found that bergamot is in the same family as mint, but this one isn't like any bergamot I've previously grown.

@Stephanie newish gardener Not sure it is one to cook with, there are some posters who will be able to advise on it's use.
