Destroying my lupins

Last year i planted 3 west country lupins, absolutely stunning plants, was really looking forward to them this year,
But an invader has come, i think they are aphids, small green beetle things, ive tried soapy water, aphid spray to no avail, they are relentless. They eat/destroy the flower buds. Any idea how to get rid of them, hopefully salvage a decent flowers this year. See pics.

Aphids … you can brush them off with your fingers (wear rubber gloves if desired) or a dry paintbrush or blast them off with a jet of water from the hose. Yin may have to do it every couple of days for a while but in my experience it does work.

This year the problem seems to have been particularly bad

Encouraging predatory insects such as ladybirds, lacewings and hoverflies will help in the future, as will getting small birds such as house sparrows and bluetits used to regarding your garden as a reliable source of food. Hanging feeders near to your lupins will entice them to the right spot 😊
