I couldn't find a way so I've cut all the leaf twigs off to try and break the cycle. It remains to see if I've killed it so I'm not advising you to do it too but I'd had enough! My container bay tree is going to need a bigger home next year🤔

  • I thought the same, take all the leaves off and burn them. I'm going to at a very weak solution of Jeyes fluid to the pot, we'll see, it's got 2 choices. Thanks for the advice 👍

I wouldn't use jeys fluid. It's horrible stuff.

There's a bacteria-based biological treatment for box caterpillar which theoretically should also work for Tortrix moth larvae.

I doubt you will kill the fig tree. I've cut mine down to stumps twice in the last 20 years. I never feed it or water it. Its in a big pot in the greenhouse and the roots went through the bottom of it.
I catch  loads of light brown apple moth every time I put the trap out. That is the main one that causes problems and its  all over.   I have damage this year on my big apple tree and its too big to try and get it off.  The small trees I can pick over for damaged leaves.
