Unhappy Melittis

Hi - I have several Melittis Melissophyllum Royal Velvet Distinction which have been super happy for years but suddenly overnight, one of them looks very sickly.  Pic attached.  Anyone any idea what's causing this?  Thanks :)

I grow my mints and lemon balm - same family of plants - in pots to keep them in bounds.  This black stuff happens very occasionally when they've got too hot and dry.  I just snip it off and give the plants a good soaking.

Thank you - it's possible this last week they've had way too much dry heat even though they're in a usually shady corner
