Moving courgettes

I am currently growing what I thought was cucumber, gherkin and some sweet pea in a trough. Everything is doing great, the problem being I had a mix up with my labelling and the cucumbers are actually courgettes! They are already fruiting but I’m concerned they won’t have near enough room as they grow.

Would it be too late to transfer them to a larger pot or are the roots likely to have spread through the trough by now? I’m worried I may disturb the other plants.

How long ago did you plant them?

I think I would do it carefully, taking as much compost around the roots as you can and when newly planted give them a good drink of water. Fill in the holes in the trough with new compost and give that a good drink too. If the courgettes are still very droopy after a few days then pick off the fruits. Some may advise to pick them anyway.

I put them in the trough around 2-3 weeks ago, then when I realised they weren’t the cucumber I thought they were I wasn’t sure what to do.

Thank you so much for your advice, I’m going to try this. ☺️
