Rose ID if possible

Anna33Anna33 Posts: 316
Hi, bit of a longshot, but can anyone help me try and figure out what rose I have? I'm genuinely not sure even what form it is - possibly a small climber, possibly not. I've only got a fairly basic knowledge of roses as a whole - if something isn't a climber or a rambler, I'm stuffed as to the rest of the distinctions.

Anyway, this rose has beautiful velvet red blooms, possibly semi-double, and lives in amongst a buddleia and a dwarf apple tree. It is completely scent-less. It also seems pretty healthy and comes back every year - I give it a cursory chop back to the main stem, but have never shaped it properly.

Here is the shape of the stem/branches. Please ignore that lovely bit of bindweed climbing up the trunk. The plant is probably standing about 5ft high in total at the moment

It has a 'Parkdirektor Riggers' look about it, but I can't be sure exactly..

Sorry for the late reply, @Marlorena.

Thank you - I've definitely never heard of that one before, but it does look quite like it. I'm not sure mine gets quite as big as the sizes quoted online, and it definitely doesn't have any fragrance, but it's the most likely candidate so far!

That's just what I was going to say when I saw the photo! It looks like mine. Same flower but a much better photo that the one I took of mine. The leaves are quite dark, glossy and leathery. Mine is about 8ft now after 3 years, not a bushy rose at all. I've trained it sideways. No scent but bright colour.

It looks like I've finally got a name for it, since that's two votes for Parkdirektor Riggers! Perhaps now I know what it is and how it should be grown, I might take a bit more care of it..... :D
