Kiwi flowers

PoppypussPoppypuss Posts: 143
I’m really chuffed! My kiwi is flowering for the first time. It’s been in the ground for over 10 years, developed buds last year but they fell off before opening. There’s interest from the bees so I’m hoping it might fruit as it’s the Jenny type and supposedly self fertile? Anyone else here growing kiwis which have produced fruit? Thanks

Our Jenny has been in the ground for over 20 years. Flowers have been coming for some 5 years now and no fruit. This year there are more flowers than ever and we are keeping our fingers crossed. We have also planted a male and female plant to try and get things moving. Watch the space.

I too have Kiwi Jenny in the ground for around 6 years now. I have seen flowers for the past 2 years; but yet to get a fruit. Yesterday evening, it was busy buzzing with bees; <fingers crossed>.
Oxford. The City of Dreaming Spires.
And then my heart with pleasure fills,
And dances with the daffodils (roses). Taking a bit of liberty with Wordsworth :)

I have only grown Kiwi in France which fruited well at 2 years old.  It was Jenny which is self fertile as mentioned.
Now in the UK, I have been toying with the idea of trying one here so be interesting to have any updates as the summer progresses  :)

Ah so I might have to wait a few more years for fruits in UK? This weather is unusually hot for so early in the year. The flowers are lovely though and I'll keep my fingers crossed. Unfortunately I've only space for one but a male and female sounds great. Will have to keep you posted if anything develops.
