HELP! My Wildflower Meadow has been over run by wild carrot

Hello, I am new to this site. I will be grateful for any advice! I have an 8 year old wildflower meadow. I do weed out specific plants when they appear eg docks or nettles, which keeps them under control.  But this year we have been swamped by wild carrot!

Can any one advise what I can do?

I have thought I could pull it up though there is a lot?  Or I could use shears to cut the flower heads before they seed?

many thanks for any ideas.

Hello and welcome to the forum 😊

Personally I would pull up some but not all of it … decapitating it would leave you with rather ugly stumps.

Leave some.  It's great for insects.  Fork out the ones you don't want and compost them before they get a chance to set seed.

Lucky you! Its hard to think of many better sources of pollen.

If it were me then i'd leave it and let the population sort itself out over time and in the meantime enjoy the increased biodiversity it attracts.

If you're managing your area as a wildflower meadow then your cutting schedule should put a dent in the numbers.

Is the wild carrot stopping other plants growing? If so, I'd just take some out, or cut some flower heads off before they seed.
