Wild Cherry Sapling

Hello all, can anyone help identify the problem with my wild cherry sapling please? It is about 2 and a half years old, bought as a whip from the woodland trust. One branch has the curled leaves and at the bottom there is this sap looking substance. I have a feeling it's not going to be good news  :'(

    Welcome to the forum.
I cannot tell you what is wrong with your tree even though we have one overhanging our pond but......https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/13950/prunus-avium/details has information about your plant with a pick and mix of problems under "Diseases". If you explore the links you will see that oozing sap is not necessarily something to be alarmed about as it can be caused by damage to the area. However it can be associated with bacterial canker.
