Should I give up on these?

Chrysanthemum sunset.
They're not pot bound but the root system isn't great. Time is marching on. Is it worth keeping them?

In London. Keen but lazy.

Are they from seeds or cuttings?
I don't give up until they turn brown.

Seeds but they're annuals. I don't mind if they're late. They are meant to be gap fillers but if they're not going to do the business,I won't kill them but I'll need to look for something else.
PS  giving up doesn't mean killing but going into the corner of shame. Worse for any plant with a modicum of self respect

Keep them. Chrysanthemums tend to flower late in the year, and once they start they'll keep going until the frost gets them.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

I think they'll get going once they are planted out.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

I'll plant them out if/ when the weather gets wetter. The sky has got dark and the air smells watery. It looks hopeful.

I say plant them out too. I find my seedlings romp away when in the ground. These poppies were sown at the same time. This is one that was held back (no space) and has just been in the ground a week

Vs this one that was planted out about 3 weeks ago

And this is one that grew direct in the ground (different type though)
