Olive tree hard prune

Hi there
My olive which has been great for years has really taking a hit over the harsh winter. My plan is to prune back to the red line in the photos but means most the foliage will be removed.
Can it still recover from that as long term I need to regain the correct shape. Thanks

  • It looks too severe to me especially if it's really hot...but let's bump your post to see if anyone has grown such mature specimens in UK weather conditions.

    Hello Richard

Wrong time to prune now.  It's too late.  March is probably a good time in the UK to nip and tuck.

Good specimen.    I think it looks good to me and doesn't need much done to it.  If you wish to shape it, then late winter is the time to do this.

A good hoeing is worth two waterings.
