Hi

Just moved into a new house, we have a smallish garden. Got a nice sized patio but we would like some structure, like a pergola, with a outside bar/bbq area.

The garden slopes and the rear of the house has sliding doors all of the way along so we can see all the way through to the garden.

I am thinking on the lefthandside, trying to blend the small shed there, using same style wood. With some desking. As garden is not long, potentially go all the wayy to the palm tree. Depth , not sure though.

Any thoughts as no idea. I have someone coming to have a look but kinda like to get some thoughts.

Just a personal thought but I would make the most of that open outlook at the bottom of your garden and not block or interrupt it with the structure of a pergola combined with decking. I think you will find that a pergola in that location will also make your garden feel narrow. For structure, I’d consider adding one or two small trees or shrubs which will frame and complement your attractive view.  Also, I wouldn’t put a BBQ near a wooden shed or decking, could you perhaps incorporate it with your nicely flagged patio area?

    Here's one I built earlier :)
I designed and constructed this about 35 yrs ago - If only I still had the energy to match my enthusiasm!

water feature - there's sump underneath the pot with a pump

It's L-shaped and I used to have a beer garden type table down there.
It was wonderful in the summer to sit under it and have a a BBQ with family and friends with the gentle trickle of water late into the night - bit of a trip to the loo tho!
I also strung a hammock between two of the posts
    Don't forget lights!

This is it covered with a very vigorous rambling rose or two (scented of course). I lost the roses in 2016, but a new ones are doing a good job!

From 2016 when I had the end of gdn landscaped, so most of the roses were lost :(
You can get an idea of the design from this - It's quite a big one - but may give you some ideas
