Potato foliage blown over

ShepsSheps Posts: 2,236
Afternoon all...the foliage on some of the spuds growing in containers has blown over today.

So...should I try and prop it back up or just cut it all down on those containers?

They were planted 2 months ago and are flowering.

Ta very much ๐Ÿ™‚

If the stems are just flopped over and not broken off I would leave them. They'll still photosynthesise and feed the growing tubers.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

If the wind has blown them over then grow them through some wire horse fence next time or put them in a more sheltered position.
They could have flopped from being too dry, but you don't say what variety or when sown etc.

Thanks @MikeOxgreen the variety is Maris Peer and they were planted 2 months ago like I stated above ๐Ÿ˜‰

I have put in some hoop supports which should help and given them a soaking.

They have grown so big this year, apart from the Charlottes which are a foot shorter and they have been in longer.

    Thanks for the advice ๐Ÿ‘
