cheap DIY greenhouse
Hello there,
I'm on my 4th year of tomatoes growing and would love to built myself a cheap DIY greenhouse. Frame could be either wood or Aluminium or plumbing pipes. Sides either plastic foils or rigid PVC plates.
I grow the tomatoes in our raised beds, footprint ca 1m x 5m.
I have already some experience with building stuff myself, built some chest of drawers at home (look fab, I love them
, not sure with my family say they look crappy and awful though....
ehm...)
Anyone has experience with this? Photos to share?
Happy gardening,
Alberto

He said the most expensive part was the wood, the rest was cheap. Poly tunnel shape is better as the wind rolls over the top. It’s stood for 3 years so far.
Looks fab, thanks for posting.
The answer, but only for the DIY enthusiast, is to create a greenhouse-type building of traditional pitched roof style, but with the ridge positioned off centre at two thirds to three quarters of the width from the south side. With a dividing wall, ideally of reflective plastic, the remaining northern space can then accommodate a water tank and other impedimenta, leaving the majority for crops.
It can be as 'clever' as you like, but my own design is to use 'figure of eight' concrete blocks on which to mount various items of sophistication, e.g. water tank, warmth piping etc. but you'd only do it once for a lifetime's use.
