Hydrangea petiolaris

Hi
I’m looking for some advice re my hydrangea pls - I planted it as a fairly large plant 3 yrs ago (against the north facing wall of a house) and it seems to be doing well - well established & apparently healthy with no signs of pest or disease.  I’ve mulched & fed it. Last year it had a couple of flowers on it- but this year, none at all!  Ive read that it could be over-aggressive pruning - which doesn’t apply - or impatience - but since it had some flowers last year, it doesn’t seem to be too soon to expect more.  Any ideas plse? Thanks!

I'd be interested to know what others say. I've got one I planted three years ago, also on a north facing fence. Never had any flowers. Not even sure when they should flower??

I don't know if they are grafted now but if they aren't they can take quite a few years to flower prolifically. We have one on the front of our house that has been there for 45+ years (planted by previous owners) and I layered a couple of new plants some years ago now which weren't flowering very much at the size your plant is but once they started flowering, they were completely covered in flowers. They seem to flower best on growth that grows out from the wall and ours can be a metre deep in parts. I do remember a few early flowering events were very sparse and then they missed a year, so I wouldnt worry I think you just need a year or two.
