Clematis Wilt

Hello, this is my first question here. Is this clematis wilt? Two clematis and an ivy have been growing here happily for about 6 years. The evergreen one flowered earlier this year, and the other one normally flowers in May but all the new growth is dying and both plants now have brown crispy leaves and stems.

Wilt starts at the bottom of the plant and moves up. Drought (either the weather or slug/snail damage to the stems) starts at the top and works down.
More likely drought than Wilt, which is actually quite rare.

I agree it looks like clematis Armandii evergreen and winter flowering? After a tough winter they can look rough at this time of year. I have worked as a gardener for 24yrs wilt as @Palustris has said is rare.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
  • Thank you both. I’m relieved then I could cut back the dead bits and water it more.
