Looking to grow some perennials from seed but unusual varieties ready for next year.  Any suggestions please?

What kind of perennial do you like /dislike already?
    In London. Keen but lazy.

Wat kind of conditions do you have for the plants? No point in growing things that love dry well-drained soil if you have moisture-retentive clay, and vice-versa.

Reasonable soil sandy loam. Love most perennials but nothing too tall as we get a lot of wind and plants end up broken. Like plants that trail as well.

Lots of things will be happy then. Mine is sandier and perennials that do well include all types of verbascum, agastache, veronicastrum, verbena, lupins, penstemons, centaurea, dianthus, salvia (shrubby and perennial) and probably lots more. This year I'm trying Althaea cannabina from seed after I saw it at RHS Bridgewater last summer, but so far only one has germinated :/

Chiltern seeds often have unusual varieties.

Thank you all for your comments. I have now ordered seeds from Mr. Fothergill's and look forward to sowing and planting them later this year ready for next spring.
