Air potted trees enable planting during the 'container season' i.e. April - October so you won't have any issues planting it at the minute as long as you;
-Dig a reasonable sized tree pit (1.5x rootball size in soft landscape) -Install adequate drainage to base of pit and check it drains freely (a layer of river washed gravel for example) -Install a decent 50mm layer of mulch to finish.
At 8ft i'd recommend temporarily staking with a wooden stake (the ugly option), or underground guying to as heavy object with a lorry strap OR stainless steel caravan strap (brand name - Platipus).
As others have mentioned rootball season is the optimal time, however with the advances in air potting technology tree planting can be carried out year round with the correct planning.
Thanks everyone, that's super helpful. I'm combining all that info from the basic to the very thorough guide from hardly eucalyptus and am going to land somewhere in the middle with a plan to plant tomorrow morning (have ordered a particular rooting hormone and seaweed extract). Thanks for helping me learn!
