I’ve seen a few on my Turks heads but the others seem to be free so.
Why are they always in two’s mating!

    They're sex mad! 😁
I agree they're at it all the time - even when you're watching!!

LOL I only saw one Beetle the other day and thought "oh thats ok, live and let live"....now I know! We've never had them before and I've been growing this pot of lillies for years, those beautiful white ones you see in Renaissance paintings

The problem with using oil on plants is that they'll likely bung-up the plants stomata (sort-of like our lungs). This prevents the plant from transpiring (breathing) properly which can then lead to further problems.
The only oil I'm aware of that keeps this to a minimum is neem oil - but I've never used it.

I have sprayed box and beech and never noticed any bad effects.  Plant stomata function differently to insect spiracles.  Neem oil is just another vegetable oil (lipid), it will function in the same way.  Its smell is reported to deter some garden pests but that is a quite different property.

That's what they do @Johnjoe - just when you think it's safe....

They're like the KitKat pandas - they wait until your back's turned...   :D

    Only when folk aren't looking @Lyn ;)
I think that's my favourite advert of all time. Brilliant.
I caught two lily beetles last week who were being 'very friendly'. I did the usual method to collect them, but one got away - I swear it flew upwards and away, but I thought they weren't supposed to be able to fly. Maybe it was related to Superman....

I'll need to look into that. The flying that is...not Superman.
