sempervivum only 3 years' lifespan?

coccinellacoccinella Posts: 1,428
I bought a Chick charms gold nugget (last year) that has been gorgeous up until a month ago. No overwatering, sunny site. Looking around the web I read that they only live for 3 years, this is not my experience with other sempervivums. Any ideas? Thank you.

Sempervivum is Latin for 'lives forever'. They die after flowering (usually in their 2nd or 3rd year) but normally produce a number of offsets to replace themselves. All the ones I've lost were killed by excessive wet weather and the wrong soil conditions.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
