20 year old Wisteria not flowered and no new leaf growth or whippy shoots

Wisteria not flowered or produced any new leaves.  Only tiny small buds produced then growth appears to have come to a halt.  No new leaves it’s just bare.  Perfect previous years. Any suggestions what could be wrong please?  It has been pruned last July and Feb this year.

Hello @lcudby and welcome to the forum 😊

Did the wisteria get plenty of water during last summer’s drought?

Has it been watered this spring which has also been very dry?

Well-grown Wisteria need a lot of water at the roots in order to pump up moisture and produce lush green leaves. Producing flowers needs even more moisture than leaves.

    Hello Dovefromabove 🙂
It probably didnt get watered enough last summer.  Only watered when rained 😬
Thankyou for response I will give a good water tomorrow.

I would give it several gallons of water 2 or 3 times a week … and cross your fingers and hope … but be warned that it may be too late.

A lot of trees and shrubs affected by last years drought and this years dry spring are dying now.

I’m sorry … but every dead plant is a new planting opportunity 😊
