Bamboo roots

Hi, my neighbours bamboo has spread into my garden and is racing across the lawn, I have dug up most of the roots whilst digging out for a decked area, I would like to use the soil I have dug out to create a small mound, however I have noticed small bits of bamboo root still left in the soil, will these small roots start to grow again, what is my best plan of action please?

I’ve not come across remnants of detached bamboo roots in the soil regrowing like couch grass and some other weeds would.  However, I would be concerned about the possibility of your neighbour’s bamboo continuing to send runners into your lawn and potentially damaging your new decking.  If your neighbour is approachable, I’d discuss this to agree a remedy which could be either complete removal of the plant or construction of an impermeable barrier on the boundary of your properties.  A running bamboo can be a serious ongoing problem if left unmanaged, potentially affecting a property’s value and sale.
    Wirral. Sandy, free draining soil.
