Blackthorn Tree - Weird growth

Oh dear ... my usual home grown sloe gin making is looking highly unlikely for this autumn, as my blackthorn tree is developing strange characteristics - odd shaped fruits and weird stem development.  Could anyone enlighten me to the cause, please? Thanks in advance!  (Sorry, can't find a way of rotating the pictures to portrait!).

Taphrina pruni, a fungus, creates Galls where there should be Sloes. No stone, they're empty and known as Pocket Plums

Thanks, Nut Cutlet.  My damson tree has these 'pocket plums' too.  :'(
As for the blackthorn stem growth (Picture 3) - I've never seen this before.  It's like a contorted drying out celery stick - and slightly creepy!!

Maybe something else is happening with the stems.
