Rhubarb

I have 2 new crowns and this is their first year so I know not to pick the stems but what do I do - leave them to die down or do I remove them at some stage? Can anyone advise me please?

Leave them to grow … when they die down the nutrients they contain will pass back down the stems to replenish the crown.

Just keep well watered and mulch with organic matter.

The 'Gospel according to Dove' is definitely the answer.

Once the leaves are all gone onto the compost heap I cover my crown with a very large terracotta flower pot to give then some protection over the winter. Then allow some rhubarb to firm without sunlight. After the first picking I remove the flowerpot to let the sun do its thing for the next cropping. This works for me.
