Does the tree have a plaque?

Here lies the body of Dave Smith
When he was alive he killed many plants
Even after death he continues to do so.

It was normal in Kent to bury a sheep under a new apple tree.  Of course the remains would be much more widely dispersed and organics mixed with inorganics.
location: Surrey Hills, England, ex-woodland acidic sand.

Thinking about it some more I can do better:

Here lies the body of Dave Smith
throughout life and death he feeds the plants
    and will forevermore
    Amen.

Not a bad way to go really, I might ask someone do the same with me then I can live on in a tree.

The problem with conifers is that they show signs of stress/damage quite a while after the problem. If you saw the conifers around here last year with the drought and high temperatures, they looked like they were coping ok but several months later, when the brown was evident, we got a chorus of chainsaws removing them.
From the picture it looks in pretty good health depending on how hot and dry your area had it.
