Identifying Plant

NaseemBanuNaseemBanu Posts: 72

Hello,

I would be very grateful for help with identifying this plant. (Sorry, for some reason it's uploading sideways and I cannot re-size it either)

The buds are a deep maroon. They're showing no signs of opening. Plant is healthy. It full sun. I believe it is an alpine plant.

Kind regards.

It looks like some variety of dianthus to me. (AKA pinks or carnations).
Trying to be the person my dog thinks I am!

    Cambridgeshire/Norfolk border.

    I think it's a dianthus aka pink.

Many thanks @AnniD and Jenny Aster. I thought Dianthus too but was unsure. Do you know if it's normal for Dianthus buds to be this colour? As I said, they've been in this state for an age despite getting a lot of sun. No signs of opening up. :(

I cropped it and turned it.
Dianthus of some sort, just wait a bit longer.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

@Busy-Lizzie, thank you. Not sure how you did that here. Will be a more patient with the buds.

Crop the photo before you upload it, that fixes the issue for some reason!
