Non flowering alstroemeria
I have got many alstroemeria which flower well but 2 to 3 large pots that only grow well but will not flower even after feeding with high potassium/ miracle grow/ tomato feeds etc etc but cannot get to flower I have shared with neighbours and theirs won’t flower either
would they be sterile and should I just throw away, any ideas ?

the flowering and non flower are in pots with my own and those that I have given my neighbours
flowering and non flowering are about 10 years old with the flowering one flower each year with me pulling dead flowers off not cutting but good growth on other but never a flower
Are you giving them time to flower after splitting? It can take many perennials a couple of years to be mature enough to flower well.
I'm not sure they're all terribly well suited to pots, so it may just be a type that isn't happy in one, and needs to be in the ground. Root system gets too big, for example, so the variety may be the reason.
The size of the pots will also be a factor, as well as how you're maintaining the plants.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
the non flowering were the same so I split up and gave to neighbours but mine and theirs have grown well but there are still no flowers an any
many ideas?
all 10 years old from same supplier
some flowers every year other 2/3 have never flowered
All pots are also the same size
summary of chats
i bought all these alstroemeria at the same time approximately 10 years ago and put them all individually in large pots with the same compost and are all on our patio with many other plants
most have flowered well every year and treated the same
2/3 have never flowered but have grown well amongst the other plants
i decided a couple of years back to intensity the feeding of these few with potassium etc to try to boost into flower but still no success
so took these out of pots and split and gave to neighbours who planted them in large pots and I did the same but again none have flowered
so from suggestion from yourselves I will plant in the ground and see if that will get them to flowers
as you can see from photos the others flower well each year and I pull old flower stalks off to stimulate new growth and flower
so if anyone has any other thoughts please let me know and I will keep you updated on their progress
