Laying turf

Hi guys, I’m after some advice regards laying turf, I have a large area to turf 126m/2.  I have turned the soil and rotavated it but after I do it I still have a large amount of small stones present, I have dug down to about a foot or so and removed all the rocks and ”builders debris”.  The soil is quite nice except the small stones.  No matter how hard I try each time I rotovate and remove stones, i tred the soil  down and I end up with more surface stones it is somewhat soul destroying. I can’t afford to add too soul to it due its size Any tips guys.?

Small stones shouldn't be much of a problem as the roots will develop around them.  Most ground has some stones in.  Just level the soil, heel it, re-level and lay the turf.

Small stones aid drainage … which will be good for your lawn. 👍

Small stone are ok, need to step the soil down and a final level or the ground will sink in parts. Step it down, level, give it a week and do it again as soil has the knack of moving over time. A firm level bed is absolute for a long term finish.
