Flies in compost

I bought compost at the garden store.   Now flies are coming out everywhere!   Help with any ideas would be appreciated.   Thank you in advance!

    If you still have the packaging and receipt, it might be best to return to the retailer to ask for a refund or replacement as the compost is not fit for purpose in that condition. Alternatively, you could spread it out on a flat dry area outdoors to allow the flies to disperse but there may still be larvae waiting to hatch.
