Lonicera topiary dying back. Help!

Hi all,

I've got a lonicera topiary that does not look well (see pictures). It's very established, composted and slow release fertiliser applied once a year with no issues so far. It's sentimental and beeen there for years so want to try and save it. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance

Welcome to the forum. Your name suggests you are not optimistic of a good outcome with your lonicera.
It appears from the photos that you have just trimmed the topiary and as lonicera nitida can normally take any amount of abuse, you may get regrowth from the bare parts. I have cut lonicera back to mere stumps and had the stuff regenerate happily.
If all the leaves on the plants look normal I don't think there is anything to worry about. However......and there is always a however.......if the leaves show signs of thickening then there could be trouble ahead. A few years back I lost one of my hedge plants due to a creeping die-back though the cause remains a mystery; all the leaves gradually took on a swollen appearance before dying off. Hopefully your very cute topiary will not be cursed with this.
Fingers crossed for a good outcome.
