Climbing Rose Question

Vh72Vh72 Posts: 127
I have two climbing roses iceberg and sommergold, they are planted in two different parts of garden.  Both were planted last year but neither are doing any climbing. Is this usual or have I been missold the wrong roses.

Mine took a few years to get going decently.

    What's their ultimate height?

    Iceberg 3.5m, sommergold 3m.
My dad's got golden showers planted after mine but its doubled in height.

Iceberg can be a shrub or a climber. I have found that climbers take about 3 years to get going.

It might depend on how good the soil is, if they were given a manure mulch and fed in the Spring, then kept well watered. It hasn't rained here for 3 weeks so I've been watering my new roses at least twice a week.

Some roses are slower to get going, they need to put down some substantial roots first.

I think you will have to have patience as most roses need at least 3 years to look good. Good luck.

Thank you very much all for your advice, I will give the roses time.
