Pear Tree (William) Fighting Back!
Poor William is in a poor way!

The pear tree is drafted on dwarf stock, it arrived with bare roots in December 2021 where it was planted in a large container. Last February while still seemingly dormant it was planted in its permanent position with as much root as possible. Handfuls of FBB was scattered in the hole amongst compost buried with it.
Straight after planting it was watered. But because the garden was sodden with the continued heavy rain, I didn't water it again. At the normal time it's leaves started to develop, but they took ages to unfurl and when they did it was obvious there was something badly wrong. It didn't produce any blossom either though it did last year.
Trying to save the tree I've been watering it everyday, even burying a plastic bottle with holes in it next to it's roots to get water through to it's base. I staked it (I know I should have done this earlier) and covered it's roots with a bark mulch.
As it was struggling I thought it best not to feed it.
I'm now delighted to see it's got lovely new growth at the top, and healthy buds are appearing at the base of the damaged leaves, so I'm optimistic it'll survive.
Is there anything I do better to help it along?
The tree has got two branches going strait up, but no side branches. The tallest branch is about 8ft.

Leaving it in peace and quiet is something I can easily do. You've put my mind at rest, I was concerned there was something else I should be doing.
Lack of experience, on my part, is a scary place to be.
So onwards to the next 200 years.....

Have read the William pears are what you'd find in canned pears, can't say I've really seen them fresh in supermarkets.
