Do I need to refresh compost in planter

Hi. I have a jasmine and a honeysuckle growing well in a planter I started them in last spring. The planter is roughly 1.5m x 0.5m. Should I be emptying out last years compost and refreshing?  I don’t want to disturb the roots but first time growing these and I’m not sure what to do. Any advice appreciated.

You could possibly take off the top couple of inches and top dress with fresh compost. I would be more inclined to give them a liquid feed  :)

It’s not necessary, just feed . Maybe next year it could do with replacing at least some of it .

What sort of compost is in the pot now?  Not ordinary multi-purpose?

I would do both things, scrape off the compost/apply fresh and feed! Especially if you have used a general/multipurpose compost rather than a heavier potting soil. These are plants that are really better in the ground, so in pots will need a lot of extra care to keep them going for more than a few years.

What is the height the pot? That’s important too.

It’s 35 cm. I guess they’ll be better in the ground but when would be the best time to move them?
