Green Algae in plant water tank.

I have a 50gal tank with tap water in it (to rest over). I use it for fruit and veg. I keep a hessian sack with stinging nettles in it dipped in the water for nutrients. Can I ignore the algae when filling the watering can?

If your tank is covered and only contains tap water, I think you can safely assume that  any algae forming is from your nettles.  Use it but just ensure the algae doesn't block the rose on your watering can.
