Saw this tree in the grounds of the church in Chesterfield town centre (the famous crooked spire) and wondered what it was. It looked like horse chestnut but with red flowers..

It is a horse chestnut ..Aesculus that has red flowers.
eg Aesculus x Carnea.
an artificial hybrid between Aesculus pavia (red buckeye) and Aesculus hippocastanum (horse-chestnut).
