  • Oh thank you :)

Loniceras looks like a perfect replacement. Thank you for the recommendation. Will see what I can find at the weekend.
  • Hi new to this forum! I have four parterres in the garden of our flats all have been attacked by box tree moth caterpillars and are dead or dying. I want to replace with suitable low growing dark evergreen shrubs that are okay in a south facing, cliff top garden, sandy soil and windy at times. Would love to hear any thoughts about replacements, trimming is no problem.

    Welcome to the forum.
This article has a list of plants that can replace box. https://www.gardenersworld.com/plants/alternatives-to-box/
Of the plants listed, Euonymus would seem to be the best bet. It's an attractive plant.
Lonicera nitida makes a good low growing hedge and I've grown that successfully in a coastal town but not on a cliff top. It's a fast grower.
