Clematis changed colour

My clematis, Mrs Cholmondely, which I’ve had about 4 years, has changed flower colour this year from mauve to pink!  What a surprise 😀. The only difference I’ve made this year is remembering to feed with blood, fish and bone- could this be the reason for the colour change?

How strange! I fed mine with blood fish and bone and it's blue, always has been.

How odd! I used to have one called Hagley Hybrid which looked just like your pink one in the picture.

I think changeable weather patterns can play havoc with the colour and form of early blooms. I’ve certainly found that with roses and clematis in particular. Be interesting to hear if it regains it’s usual colour later on, Super Gardener.

  • It will be interesting to see if later blooms revert to the blue Nollie🤔 I’ll post back on here and give an update.  Luckily both the blue and the current pink blend nicely with the plants around it 😀
