Lecanium Scale?

I've just been outside and looking at my Victoria plum and one of the branches was wet and sticky. I took a closer look and found sap leaking along with these rather scary looking pustule type things.

Sorry the picture's not great, due to the angle I couldn't get one with decent light and all I could do was fiddle with the settings on the photo.

I've had a quick Google and it looks a bit like lecanium scale. Could anyone confirm this and offer some suggestions as to how to fix the problem.

TIA

Thanks @Fran IOM 😊 Doesn't seem to be a particularly common problem, especially compared to something like aphids (my other plum tree looks like a savoy cabbage right now 😭).

Most scale can be scrubbed off with a nail brush or similar.
Whether that would be the case with your plant, I don't know. I've never had scale on anything, ever, despite growing many shrubs that are apparently susceptible.

Some of the fruit growers might be able to confirm, or give other advice though  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

@Fairygirl I'm rather cautious about just removing them as I'm worried about anything nasty getting into the wounds they leave behind. Most of the stuff I've read is from US websites which is not overly helpful when it comes to recommended products to use. I'd rather not use anything that isn't organic but there might not be any other option 🫤
